Join us for an evening of Permaculture inspiration at the Sydney Premiere of INHABIT – with a special introduction by David Holmgren…
About the Film
Inhabit is a feature length documentary introducing permaculture: a design method that offers an ecological lens for solving issues related to agriculture, economics, governance, and on.
“One of the best permaculture doco’s of the last thirty years’ – David Holmgren
The film presents a vast array of projects, concepts, and people, and it translates the diversity of permaculture into something that can be understood by an equally diverse audience.
Focused mostly on the Northeastern and Midwestern regions of the United States, Inhabit provides an intimate look at permaculture peoples and practices.
During the Spring, Summer, and Fall of 2013, film makers Costa Boutsikaris and Emmett Brennan documented over 20 sites in a range of rural, suburban, and urban environments.
They explored a breadth of response to local and global challenges from issues of food, water, and medicine, to governance, economy, and culture.
About the Filmmakers:
“Disillusioned by a form of media that often slants towards the negative, Costa and I decided to film and present a story of solutions.
What resulted was a collection of over 20 visits with people who are changing the way that we relate to our food and economic systems.
We travelled in a veggie oil, and solar powered VW, which became our on-road editing studio.” – Emmet Brennan
“The scope and balance of the examples chosen to illustrate the diversity of permaculture is excellent.
Of course the art and beauty of this film will make it attractive to audiences used to polished media productions, but it is the substance underlying the beauty and passion that attracts me.
…I can endorse Inhabit as one of the best permaculture doco’s of the last thirty years.” ~ David Holmgren on Inhabit.
