Our Fair Share policy
Fair Share rates and scholarships, on every one of our courses
If you'd love to do one of our courses but the money just isn't there right now, we'd much rather you asked us than quietly missed out.
Fair share is one of the three ethics of permaculture, right alongside earth care and people care. So for us, it means sharing these skills with anyone who wants to learn them.
And that's why our online courses in Organic Vegetable Gardening, Home Mushroom Cultivation and Permaculture Living all have Fair Share rates and scholarships, for folks who need them.

Who it's for
We offer discounted rates, and sometimes a full scholarship, to people who'd otherwise find a course out of reach.
There are only so many of these places each round, and they mostly go to folks who:
- are unwaged, on a pension, or on a low income
- live somewhere without access to this kind of learning
- identify as LGBTQIA+ or non-binary
- live with disability, or have particular learning needs
- belong to a historically marginalised community or an ethnic minority
Don't quite fit any of these? Get in touch anyway... we'd love to hear from you.
And if you do get a scholarship, all we ask is that you give the course a real go... and when you can, pass on what you learn to the people around you.
On the NDIS with a self-managed or plan-managed plan, or on Farm Household Allowance? Your plan or Activity Supplement can pay the full course fee, so have a look at how that works first: NDIS · Farm Household Allowance.
Apply for a Fair Share place
It takes about three minutes, in five short steps. If the course you're after is open for bookings right now, apply before it closes so we can get you in this round.
We only use your answers to decide your Fair Share place, and for nothing else. They're never shared, never added to our mailing list, and they're deleted within 12 months.
More ways to learn with us
Already one of our students?
Once you've done a course with us, you get 20% off any of our other courses. And it comes off every payment, whichever way you choose to pay.
We send your discount link each time a course opens, so make sure you're on its waitlist - or grab the link from our student discounts page.
Part of a community group?
We also team up with community gardens, permaculture groups and not-for-profits who share our values. So we can set up scholarships or discounts for them to pass on to their people.
If that sounds like your crew, drop us a line at [email protected] and let's have a chat.
Learning for free
Nearly twenty years of our how-to articles are free to read right here, from sourdough to seed saving... and they'll stay that way.
There are free starter guides for veggie gardening and home mushroom growing too, plus plenty of videos on our YouTube channel.

Not sure whether to ask?
Please just ask!
The worst that can happen is a friendly email back from us, and we'd love to see you in a course, right where you are.
