Michael has a heap of experience in growing many types of annual vegetables in temperate and sub-tropical environments.
He can help you get activated about taking your organic veggie production from zero to hero, using easy and effective nutrient cycling and soil building techniques that complement his years of experience with planting plans to ensure a bountiful harvest.
This class will be approximately half class time and half garden time, so arrive expecting to get your hands dirty!
You will leave this course with a competent working knowledge of how to either begin or immediately improve your veggie garden, as well as sample seeds and lots of course notes.
About your teacher:
Leading you through this weekend will be Michael Hewins. Michael has been a full-time market gardener for a number of years in northern NSW as well as spearheading market garden projects at Milkwood Farm in Mudgee and Common2Us in Sydney.
The great thing about Michael’s growing experience is that it’s incredibly varied – he’s worked in a variety of climates and soils. He’s grown organic veggies as a self-employed grower, and within a larger enterprise.
Michael has a passion for dynamic adult learning environments, and has a strong focus upon sharing his knowledge to help inspire and guide positive change in the community.
In this course it is Michael’s mission to make sure that you leave with solid learning outcomes, so that you’re ready to make the most of your new knowledge about soils, seeds, design, crop rotation, growing, harvest and more.

As this is an on-farm course, you’ll also join us for delicious wholefood and farm-grown lunches and snacks throughout each day.
About the venue:
This course is a combination of focussed theory and on-farm learning at Buena Vista Farm near Gerringong on The South Coast of NSW.
Buena Vista is a small mixed farm, with enterprises ranging from broiler chickens, pastured eggs + pork, and a thriving market garden, as well as their on-farm wholefoods kitchen products.
