Are you ready to take the plunge and get seriously skilled up in Permaculture Design? Join some of Australia’s best Permaculture educators this Summer for our Sydney PDC.
We pride ourselves on the quality of our Permaculture Design Certificate, which we run 3 times a year.
Drawing on best-practice, student outcome based learning and the extensive experience of our teachers, we think it’s the best PDC you can possibly take in Australia.
This is because a Milkwood PDC, unlike many other PDCs, focusses on ensuring that students learn and understand the design process, and that they emerge from a Milkwood PDC able to design things effectively.
So rather than a ‘chalk and talk’ PDC, or one that focusses mainly on hands-on backyard gardening, a Milkwood PDC is a design course thats steadfastly dedicated to turning you into a good designer – pure and simple.
What you will learn at a Milkwood PDC
A Milkwood Permaculture Design Course is steadfastly dedicated to turning you into a better holistic designer. The learning outcomes of this intensive course have been built around a powerful design frameworks to realise this goal.
Detailed Course Schedule – Detailed Learning Outcomes
Within this intensive two week course we take students through all the aspects they need to create effective permaculture designs.
Design for change…
Because that’s what our world needs at this point – people that can go into a context, whether it be a bare backyard or a financial company, and figure out a whole systems design to enable goodness.
Designing your future
A Milkwood Permaculture Design Certificate can lead anywhere – we’ve had students use it as a springboard into new careers of all types, from farming to accounting, school garden enterprises, and design services.
Previous student designs | Permaculture Futures stories
You will leave this immersive experience with the confidence and ability to create exceptional permaculture designs for any situation.
A full blown agricultural enterprise, an apartment balcony, a quarter acre farm, an intentional community, a company structure whatever human habitat that needs designing.
This might be in the form of a backyard garden, or it might be in the form of re-designing your people system to enable better communication and team outcomes.
Or it might be a whole system design to enable that your community makes the right choices when it comes to growing their own food, or harvesting their rainwater, or enabling energy-efficient housing solutions, or creating more greenspace that works for everyone.
We’re proud to have a large and growing Permaculture student alumni who have incorporated their permaculture design learning into every industry you can think of – from farming to accountancy departments to landscape architecture to city planning to school gardens to design labs to building eco villages….

More of what Milkwood PDC students have to say…
This Summer we’re holding our PDC in the cool and leafy surrounds of the Inner Sydney Montessori School – a great setting and a base for our student’s design projects.
As with all our PDCs, by the end of those two weeks you’ll have a crew of new friends who are on the same page as you, and a network of amazing folks from all over Australia and beyond that will endure long after the two weeks is done
As well as design work and learning, we’ll also be spending time in some of Sydney’s best examples of urban resilience design – from an off-grid home in the middle of the city to rooftop gardens to a secret food forest.
At the end of all this, students emerge with both certification and the skills to create serious change.
So if you’re wanting to use this Summer to make a difference, might we invite you to join us.
It will be an amazing two weeks, and we’d love to have you there.
