The other day I was making a belated breakfast for myself. As I was assembling this quick meal of picnic dregs, it struck me that two of the ingredients fitted into the ‘local, ethical and awesome’ category, and one did not. So I took a photo.
Hey look what just arrived at Milkwood Farm – permaculture playing cards! These are great. 52 cards jam-packed with interesting knowledge and a sprinkling of permaculture people profiles – I can’t wait to kick back in the shade next week with these.
The whole restaurant-with-added-market-garden is becoming a bit of a thing. And hooray for that. Most examples I’ve seen, however, are heavy on look-and-feel, but light on actual, really truly, garden-to-plate action. Not so with Harvest Cafe in Newrybar, just south of Byron Bay.

Ever wanted to start an urban micro-farm on that spare block at the end of your street? Check out this stunning example: Wagtail Urban Farm – a blooming spare-block in Adelaide. Living proof that growing on rented urban land can be a very good thing.

These are a great family project – it’s easy, happy, messy craft, with the bonus of ticking all your handmade, buy-nothing christmas boxes all at once. Excellent.
This Summer it happens that we’re involved in not one but two fabulous art exhibitions in Sydney! Namely The Yeoman’s Project at AGNSW and Yoko Ono’s WAR IS OVER (if you want it) at the MCA. Come and visit us!
